Glocal Resources was birthed out of necessity in July 2014. After several years of ministry through community development in Honduras, we needed a vehicle to expand what we had already been doing. We also needed a way to assist our local work on the Penn State campus, the place where global meets local. In July of 2018, we (Johnny and Kathy) transitioned from PA to the Nashville, TN area (Johnny’s home) to make the next leap, developing Glocal Resources as a full time non-profit venture. Our vision is for Glocal to be a catalyst for personal, community & cultural transformation. Pretty lofty aspirations… but throughout our years serving the Penn State community we’ve seen the interaction of these three arenas produce a holistic, integrated way of life that is simply… transforming.
True transformation can happen in the Extreme Home Makeover “Wow!” kind of experience, but oftentimes it happens as a “slow and quiet” kind of transformation. Glocal Resources provides both catalytic resources and experiences, but accompanied by resources and experiences for the slow and quiet weeks, months and years it takes for sustainable change.
“Whole-life disciples” is the way we describe this integrated approach to our training. We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ transforms everything. Period. Whole-life discipleship builds capacity for better leadership within our communities and cultural engagement in healthy ways.
