Glocal Resources was established by Johnny Pons, former campus minister at Penn State University for 28 years. Johnny and Kathy have been married for 30 years and have 4 boys, Andrew, Daniel, Caleb and Nathan. Johnny is a Nashville area native (Hendersonville) and Kathy calls Tulsa, OK home. They met and married in Fort Worth, TX where they both graduated with Masters of Divinity degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The beauty of our relationship is we are as opposite as two human beings can be… and deeply appreciate each other!
Johnny serves as President of Glocal Resources, but claims no authority over anyone. Kathy is the Administrative Guru and basically holds everything together! We are clearly better together, but Kathy can handle herself pretty well without me.
Seriously though, Johnny is wired up to Create, Connect, Collaborate & Communicate. We are both indebted to a host of mentors and influencers who have poured deeply and richly into our lives, shaping much of what we are trying to faithfully pass along to others. We humbly offer these resources and experiences because we know how much we have benefitted from their practice.
Our Board
We also are surrounded by a group of wise counselors and overseers who serve as our Board of Directors. Each of them are uniquely qualified to speak into Glocal Resources as practitioners of whole-life discipleship.
Johnny Pons
Glocal Resources President
Johnny is the founder of Glocal, and now is serving full time in his role. After 28 years as a campus minister at Penn State University, Johnny is returning home and continuing to serve young adults and leaders in their whole-life discipleship journey, both locally and globally. Honduras is a long-term partnership, and continues to be a primary global focus. He is married to Kathy and dad to four young men, Andrew, Daniel, Caleb and Nathan.
Pete Colvin
Treasurer
Pete joined the New Life campus ministry in his first week as a student at Penn State University. Peter is a chemical engineer with degrees from PSU (2002) and MIT (2003). Upon graduation, he returned home to suburban Philadelphia to work for the pharmaceutical company Merck, focusing on process development of new medicines and vaccines. Peter is a member and leader at Central Schwenkfelder Church (Worcester, PA) where he was raised. Inspired by his time with New Life, Peter is passionate about discipleship and short-term international mission trips. He has participated and/or led trips to Peru, Honduras, the Netherlands, and Greece. Peter is blessed to be the husband of Angela Colvin and “daddy” to Nathaniel. Although the trips back to PSU are less frequent, Peter continues to root for the Nittany Lions football team, along with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Michelle Welliver
Secretary
Michelle first met Johnny and Kathy in 1999 as a graduate student in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the Pennsylvania State University, and became an active member and student leader in New Life Student ministry. She and her husband, Scott, returned to State College in 2003 as professionals and continued their partnership with Newlife as staff and mentors to students. Michelle has supported and organized a trip to Honduras in conjunction with Glocal and Epic Church in 2013. Michelle currently resides in the Philadelphia area where she works as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She is fortunate to have combined her passion for people, professional skill, and love of children with special needs to serve as a Life Group leader and “Buddies” program leader at Epic Church. She is the proud mom to Chase, Savannah, and Hope, enjoys all things “family”, and happily clocks countless hours cheering from the sidelines - be it on a soccer or lacrosse field, pool deck, or stage!
