Now that I have landed back in Nashville I am choosing to focus forward and challenging myself to pay more attention to where God has uniquely placed me in both time and space. There is a hint of sadness in what we have left behind after 28 years, but there is also a bit of a curiosity rush as I am re-discovering my home city. I am using the words THERE, AWARE, CARE, PRAYER, & SHARE to guide me through this new transition. These are familiar words as I have used these year after year in PA.
One of my heroes of days ago, Jim Elliot, once said, “Wherever you are, be all there, and live to the hilt every situation you know to be the will of God.” I want to be ALL THERE, wherever God takes me in this new season. I also want to be on alert… as AWARE as I can be looking for signs of God at work. If I am truly paying attention, I want to not just see, but respond in action to opportunities to CARE for those around me. I also want to raise the bar on my prayer life so that what I am seeing and experiencing gets processed through the lens of PRAYER. Lastly, if the Gospel is truly the core of my life, and if it is the power of God leading to our salvation, then why would I want to hoard this all to myself? I don’t want to be pushy or obnoxious, but, really… if the most fulfilling thing we can do is to “enter into God’s rest,” that is GREAT news and something I want to SHARE. Of course I can also share in other ways – time, treasure and talents, but I want to be more of an inviter and includer through the coming days and months rather than being a hider and hoarder.
